Car Build Progress
The front suspension has now been fully assembled, infact the car is now mechanically complete with all four ‘corners’ attached to the structure. Body final fitting today to complete a productive weekend.
Engine Meets Tub…
Its Christmas Eve and the engine and tub have finally been mounted together to check all the engine mounting points are aligned and there are no unexpected clashes between the engine ancillaries and the rear bulkhead. The procedure was successful, everythgin checks out OK, so we continue to be on schedule.
A few days off for Christmas and then next week we can begin assembling the suspension systems and remaining mechanical components. Merry Christmas!
Production Control
This will be a week of significant progress with the assembly of the first car. The last few weeks have been the ‘lull before the storm’ its been a critical time for the Production Management ensuring that all the car components have been ordered and that they are being delivered on time. This week has seen some major components delivered and as a result the assembly of the car has started to show results.
Yesterday the engine and gearbox were assembled with the bespoke adaptor plate and clutch housing connecting the two major components together. Today the exhaust system will be validated when it is trial fitted. Later this week the tub will be completed and ready to begin the full car assembly. At this stage with so many parts being delivered it is an exciting time, its also about to get stressful as the deadlines get closer any manufacturing errors or design errors are unwanted, however, we know how to manage these problems should they arise.
